Take it to the next level: Whom would you complain to to restore DFD
functionality? Apple? NI? Garittan? All of the above?
It seems to me that they should be made aware of the issue so it can be
fixed, so hours upon hours of troubleshooting can be averted in the
future....

DFD is a proprietary Native Instruments technology. It has nothing to do
with Apple or Garritan.

Although the Garritan product is basically wrapped inside a Kompakt
(or is that a Kontakt?) . . . and uses the very same DFD libraries
and extensions. I'm not even sure if you can tell GPO *not* to use
DFD, if those extension have been loaded from, say, a Kontakt
installation.

Just disable disk streaming in the GPO Kompakt player. (options window)
You're really not supposed to be streaming from disk in GPO. Just don't
do it.
