Does anyone know how to import an mp3 or other audio file into Logic, then
split that
stereo file into two separate audio tracks?
I've tried "edit/disconnect selected split stereo file" from the
audio window, but an alert
stating "Please select exactly the split stereo audio file you want to
disconnect" appears.
I've tried selecting the entire file, or either of the stereo channels, but
to no avail.
Thanks.

Preferences->Audio->Force record & convert interleaved into split
stereo file(s)
Check it, then Import.

Hiya All..
I just went to work on a track, started up Logic 7.0.1 and I got a very
quick start-up error
message....
Project Manager database on disk has got wrong version. Rescanning required.
I click OK..
Then I get...
Please select an audio driver in the following preferance dialogue.
I again click OK..
But that next dialogue box never appers, just a message saying re-scanning.
Any ideas what I can do? Anyone come across this before? All I'm getting at
the moment is
the spinning wheel of eternal boredom..
Back to 6.4.3 for a while ....
Cheers, Rich.

Disconnecting is for files that are already split stereo, it disconnects
the "association" between the L and R, ie you no longer edit them
as a
pair but can edit them singly.
To actually split an inerleaved file you set your audio preferences to
"split stereo for recording and converting", which will split the
file
as you import.
If you want them to be edited together as split setero leave them like
that, if you want them to be edited separately do the edit- disconnect
thing you mentioned
Or, you could do two separate bounces to mono out 1 and mono out 2, by
making your stereo output object(s) mono - click on the stereo icon at
the bottom of the object.

Hi Me! .....Just thought I'd post a reply to my own message...
I basically trashed the prefs, having restarted the machine and logged as a
test user.
I'm working now with Project Manager off. Does anyone know if this may cause
any probs?
I tried leaving it checked but I got the error back again.
Called Apple support but having told me that I didn't qualify for support,
because I have to
pay for it, I got only basic help, no answers.
Is this the way it is now? We used to have Logic Support if you bought the
programme, but
I was told I had to pay more to get Logic specific support.
Anyone know anything?
