Subject: Region quantizing still not fixed
Message #183754
Hi there, Isn't this a leftover from so many years past??? If the region (MIDI) doesn't start on the downbeat then the region quantizing does whatever the hell it wants... sheesh... I'm sorry I didn't include that in the bug report since I forgot about it until I had to clean up some MIDI done by someone else. Any hints? Not bug. Feature. It does something very specific. > sheesh... Quantize is calculated from the left edge of the region rather than to the global grid. The idea is that under some circumstances such as for example those cases where you have a patch with a slow attack it will be convenient to quantize to something other than the global grid. The behavior is well documented, just look in the manual and the description is right there at the beginning of the section on quantizing. Is this good? While I consider it to be a great option personally I disagree with this implementation because people are confused by it. IMO the default should be to quantize to the global grid but

Last night I was beating my head against the wall because quantize was moving the notes ahead of the actual grid line. Now I know why and, in fact, I just opened up the project, adjusted the start of the region and all is right with the world. :) :) :) :) Kamm
