Hi
I did a quick search, but didn't see anything about this feature.
I still run Logic Pro 6.4.2 happily, but have been unable to access the
scrub feature on
several systems that I've set up with Logic 7.
Am I missing some sort of change in how it operates, or has the feature been
temporarily
disabled.
Thanks for any insight.

I can't get any audio to playback when using the Sample Editor. I don't
recall having this problem prior to 7.0.1. Is this related to William's
problem.

I believe this would be an unrelated problem!
I can not confirm the following but repeat it here as a caution to
OSX Logic users.
I saw on Versiontracker that there was a Security update for OSX.
There is however a warning posted by a user:
Renders midi useless. Apple knows about this problem and claims that
the only way to resolve it is by totally re-installing panther!
Update at your your own risk!

PS - if anyone has further info, please reply to this thread

I was one of the brave ones and I did have a midi problem and it is gone
now. I'll tell you
what i did and what i am using
I am using ibook 1.ghz/1.25gbram w/m audio radium 49 hooked usb, tascam 1884
fw
obviously LP7.1 .
Anyway I installed it went to disk utility verified and repaired disk
restarted. when I did my
midi was not recognizes also my 1884 and the whole fw chain not noticed . I
pulled out
the fw and recoonected then turned on everything i the cahin and that worked
. As for the
midi I had to try and reboot the controller while I was in a program closed
the program
opened it and had to go to preferences to set everything over including the
1884 . I also
went to the sound preference in sys pref and reconfirmed the settings.
I then went to every app that i use my radium and 1884 and checked my
preferences and
every thing is cool now . Live 4.1, LP 7.1, reason 2.5, vapor, arkaos all ok
Hope this helps someone

I'm still hoping someone has information about this.

Hi,
My name is Ciro, and I have been lurking here for quite a while. Just
thought I would introduce myself before posting.
I have two machines, G$ MDD Dual 867 and one of the single processor
1.8 G5s. I did the security update on both. The G4 did not have a
problem, midi works fine. The G5, however, had problems: launching
any application that needs to access core midi, Logic, DP,
Garageband, Reason, would bring up an alert with "Timeout or Timining
occupied by another application (Code 0))" message. I could not even
open the Audio/midi app without it quitting. I called apple to ask if
it was the security update. They recommended archive and reinstall
Panther. On the Apple Garageband forum similar problems were noted.
One user found a solution by reinstalling the drivers for his M-audio
solo. I have an M-audio firewire 410 hooked up to the G5 as well as a
Gina 3G and Motu 828. Before doing the complete reinstall, I tried
reinstalling the drivers for the firewire 410. Everything came back
and works fine. HTH.

I had no problems apart from MIDI not responding once then being OK on
re opening of the song, still slightly worrying.

FWIW: Macfixit recommended against updating from
software update but rather getting the update directly
from the Apple site. JP

I see that you have three audio cards, one of which I may one day
buy. Is the Gina a lot better than the FW410? I hear a lot of persons
saying is ok but do not sound satified. And what the Motu? Is it worth
the price difference?

The security update killed the midi inputs/drivers or whatever, Logic 7
could not receive
any midi input from my keyboards (MicroKorg and Evolution 249c2) any more.
Reinstalling the fireface drivers had no effect; I had to install the combe
update 10.3.7
(97MB) to get it working again.
Thanks a lot, Apple.

HI,
First, I have to say that I bought the G5 to use as a node with my
MDD G4 Dual 867, which I still consider my main machine. On this
machine I have three 828s, one MKII and two originals. I think the
828 sounds great and has worked very well. I especially think the
828MKII give you a lot of functionality for the money. At some point,
when I feel like I have gotten everything out of the G4 I can, I will
replace it with a dual G5. I originally bought the Firewire 410 to
use with my powerbook for work at school. While I was waiting for the
Gina to arrive, I hooked up the 410 and the 828 to the G5. I have
since switched the 828 back to the G4. I bought the Gina, because I
wanted a cheaper interface than the 828MKII that had ADAT, so I had
the option of sending audio to either machine over ADAT. The 410 only
has S/PDIF.
I definitely think the 828MKII is worth the extra money if you want
the extra inputs. I think both the Gina and 410 sound very good. If I
had to get picky, I would say the Gina sounds slightly better with
regards to detail within the sound field. The Gina definitely has
more output. That said, I am also very happy with the sound of the
410, especially using it with my powerbook, and I would rather carry
the 410 around with my powerbook than the 828, which is twice as big.
The 410 has many features that I like, such as two headphone jacks. I
also like that you can simultaneously plug in line level instruments
and mics and switch between them with a button on the front. HTH.
