Regardless of the derivation of the prefix or the coolness of it ....
1. There are two different "hyper" editors in Logic - and it
causes
confusion.
2. Again, the name is meaningless in any real sense. One is a graphic
representation of midi controller data, and the other a poor excuse
for the drum editor that Logic never provided. In neither case is it
drawing over, nor is a better editors since edits control data but not
the notes themselves whereas you can edit both pitch, start, end,
duration and velocity in the matrix editor with the appropriate tool.
If Logic wants to appeal to 13 year old scifi nerds, why don't they work
more on the functionality rather than the "hyper" and
"ultra" nomenclature?
Has there been a single new editor or greatly enhanced tool in Logic in
the past 3 or 4 versions? Track automation was the only new thing which
was really a re-write of the hyperedit to make it more accurate. It seems
MIDI is more or less left as is for the past 7 years, instead of moving
forward to be on the cutting edge.

Greatly enhanced tools/functionality:
1) Marquee Tool (didn't exist before L6)
2) New Loop Tool/Cursor (phenomenal ACID/GarageBand style looping new with
L7)
3) Global Tracks (sure, the tracks are not "editors" themselves,
but you can now create/
edit tempo, transposition values, beat map, and so on graphically on the
Arrange, which
was not possible before Logic 7).
Probably more I'm not thinking of.
Nobody is trying to suggest Logic 7 doesn't need improvement. But while it's
useful to
acknowledge its faults, simply diminishing Logic by saying "it needs
better editors" or "it
needs better MIDI" is too general to be of much specific use.
