Subject: Dub/ punch in... L7
Message #178648
Hi, Using G5, L7 with RME Fireface, 2 UAD, Powercore, Mackie Control, etc.. I was hoping for some changes in v7.... but still miss many things..... and that is not!! more fancy plugins ;) Why on earth is it not possible to make a PUNCH in/out like on a tapemachine? Never got record toggle to work properly...... Especially when using Mackie/LOGIC Control this is really strange to me. Did some dubbing on a live session today (no midi, click etc) When using preroll... bars or seconds. You DONT HEAR whats happening on the track before the punch in (pretty relevant). I found a work around... set left/right locator and enable drop.... thats gives a lot! more mousework and more stress on your mouse arm.... you know how it is after a 14 hour session.. "Punch in on the second phrase" .. shift-enter, click drag, click drag..., zoom in, click drag, click drag, zoom out, click, click etc... Well, sorry for the rant and if these are old topics... I have used Logic for 8 years (and been here..) PT and now L7... I might need to find other ways to get "things" done.... but is hoping Apple would steal some more basic ways of work from PT... they did pretty good with the automation (but could REALLY improve more... like the grouping in...) How do you fellows handle dubbing (and 3+ tracks at a time...)? Best, Pelle

It should work if you use - punch on the fly enabled - auto input monitoring enabled - use record toggle to punch in / out At least it works with TDM (when is doesn´t crash...).
