> MP3 Encoder
Since the beginning of this mp3 thread, I must say that someone mention this
mp3 encoder for mac using the shockwave plug-in from macromedia, and I tried
it. Well I agree, its working very Well, the results at 160kbs are excelent.
I even took a mp3 that I made and using Qt4, I convert back to aiff and
match the orginal waveform to the process one and even though the graphic
representation was subtly different, and that the new file was a little
longer, after matching the start of the music of the new one with the
original, doing a A B test I could not tell which was which. (Note that I'm
not geared in 24/96 yet.)
Now to incorporate mp3 audio in logic the question is what is more demanding
on the cpu....handling more data in the case of normal SDII file or
decoding mp3 data.? and this would demand probably lots of new code and may
be a new audio engine which is lots of work. But it would make crossplatform
compatibility much easier.!!!
So, all this to say that may be for Emagic in the short term is that this
mp3 thing could be part of Waveburner more than in Logic. So you could
either burn to Audio cd format or to mp3 format.
It could be a little motivation for some people to get Waveburner (that
I like very much) ..........oh but then its not a solution for our pc
friends.........
Just my 2 cents.
(thanks again for our collegue who gave this nice tip about mp3 encoder and
to Johan Lindvall who had the brain to do write it.)
