Subject: Playback Latency
Message #176394
Logic Pro 6.4.3 Mac PowerPC G4 Dual 1.25 OSX 10.3.5 Coreaudio 6.5.2 I/O buffer size: 512 files recorded to Lacie ext. firewire drive Mbox audio interface Motu Midi Express I'm having a problem in Logic with latency on playback of all audio instrument and audio tracks. If I record, for instance, a simple EXS24 or MachFive high-hat quarter-note pattern, I experience a bit of expected latency while performing, but once I apply a hard 1/4 note quantize to the track, upon playback, it sounds approx. one 64th note late (@120bpm) to the midi click. If I bounce the track, that also sounds late to the click. Even if I "print" a midi instrument track to audio, the audio track will sound late to the midi track. The view from the events, matrix and audio sample edit window looks right on the beat though. I am not using any other plug-ins, effects. or cards and have not applied any parameter delay. The midi instrument tracks play back ok. I don't know if there's something I'm doing incorrectly, or if there's a problem with the way Logic is interacting with the Mbox and Coreaudio. Any ideas on how to remedy this problem would be most appreciated. P.S. When I perform this test with Digital Performer 4.12 and Pro Tools LE 6.4 using the same exact hardware, everything plays back right on the beat.
