I am having a problem with Logic7 "stuttering" the audio when I
start or stop playback
quickly. One easy way to reproduce this problem is to start playing at a
certain measure,
and hit play again while it is going, so it starts again from the same spot.
It will stutter for
a split second before playback starts.
This happens on all sessions that I have tried, with all audio hardware
settings I have tried.
Is anyone else able to reproduce this bug? Anyone know how to make it stop?
Thanks.

I have had this same problem since I got L7. It sounds like the audio is
looping a very short segment for about a half second when starting or
stopping.

I don't know if I'd say I'm experiencing "stuttering", more like
intermittent sputtering here. Are you guys using Wave plugs?

No Waves plugs, and mine is not intermittent. It happens only when I
start or
stop playback. My system:
Dual 1.25GHz G4, OSX 10.3.5,
1.25GB RAM, 2X80GB internal HD
M-Audio Delta66
Logic Pro 7
UAD-1, OhmForce FX, RMX, Stylus, Trilogy, Atmosphere,
Crystal, Pluggo, Battery2, Absynth2, Phatmatik Pro.

Ours is definitely stuttering, only on start or stop, similar to Sumit Das.
We do have Waves
Gold and lots of other third party plugs. Have not had time to properly
troubleshoot the
issue, but I know it does happen to every track, and does not seem to be
song-dependent
(every one I've tried does it.) It does not depend on buffers or any other
hardware setting.
It does seem to be in sync with the tempo, strangely enough.
Let me know if you have any other ideas.

I would think, it's the UAD.
The audio has to travel back & forth to the card and it has to be
buffered. This buffering is probably the "stuttering"...

Possibly, but this bug only showed up with L7, never ever with L6.x.x .
I suspect it is due to some optimization in the audio engine. It scared me
at first because I thought things would lock up, but I'm used to it now.
L7 is rock solid for me.

I was also having a problem with stuttering.
The surefire way for me to see the problem in action was to have
Logic 7 open in the background not playing, then open itunes and play
a song, hit stop and it stutters, until you either close itunes or
click back onto Logic 7. This also happened to me when I previewed
audio clips through the finder.
Here is my setup...
Logic 7
Dual 1 gig, 10.3.6
M-Audio Audiophile 2496
Phatmatik Pro, RM IV, CA5000, FabFilter One, Oddity
Hydra and SuperCamelPhat -Wrapped
No Waves plugs anymore ;)
It happened when the OSX Sound Output was set to "Analog 1/2 Delta
Audiophile 2496" (which are the outs on the card) and Logic 7 was
also set to that as a driver.I had to switch the OSX Sound Output to
"Multichannel Delta Audiophile 2496" and kept Logic set to the
Analog
1/2 outs and that fixed the issue.
Since you have an M-audio interface, this might be your problem.

Hey! I just ran into this problem, after upgrading a G4 AGP 400MHz to OSX
10.4.6 and Logic Express 7.2, with a Delta 66 card (built-in audio doesn't
exhibit the problem). I tried several of the solutions floating around -
but the one that's working consistently for me is really simple: arm a track
for recording and then un-arm it. So far that takes care of it, every time
(it seems to be required after the app is started or any re-launch for a
core audio change).
According to the post where I saw that -
http://community.sonikmatter.com/forums/lofiversion/index.php/t22659.html -
there's supposedly an odd bug that can cause that problem with some drivers.
At any rate, it's working for me....

I also have the problem but with Logic 6.x - I also have a Delta-66.
My solution is simpler than yours.
Double click on the Transport bar, where there BPM is displayed:
Just underneath the BPM is the memory consumption of the current open
file. Double clicking on the memory value brings up the
"Reorgansise Memory" popup and Clicking "OK" will
recover some memory
and also cut the stutter out stone dead.
