Nodes are only the satellite computers used for extra processing. I posted an article earlier about getting this to work so do a search for nodes and you can see the setup I used and how I got it working. Actually I will repost it in here.... Here is a repost, some is not for this problem, but..... Actually, you may not need a cross-over cable. The G4 Powerbook Laptops & G5s auto switch depending on the cable used, but I am not sure about your computers. Also remember to setup your network cards on both machines so you are on the same subnet. This is very important or logic won't talk to the node. A simple test for the cable is to make sure your networks are up on both computers, test by pinging the local interface from the local machine (if the computer you are on is 192.168.0.1 then from that computer ping 192.168.0.1 and then do the same from the other computer) then once each machine can ping itself you should be able to ping the other computer's IP with the cable plugged in. I used Computer 1 Network Settings IP: 172.16.0.10 Subnet: 255.255.255.0 DNS: Blank Gateway: Blank Computer 2 Network Settings IP: 172.16.0.11 Subnet: 255.255.255.0 DNS: Blank Gateway: Blank These network settings are not written in stone and you situation may be slightly more complicated depending on your network setup, but the way I mentioned above is an easy way to configure if using cables directly connected to each machine. Anyway, I have successfully used logic nodes. I used a G4 1.25 GHz PB with 1gig ram as the master computer with Mobile I/O 2882 as interface, and I used a plain CAT5 cable to connect both computers directly. This was not a cross-over cable either and it was plugged from one computer directly into the other one via a 75 ft. cable. [I was jamming downstairs on headphones but computer was in studio in upstairs room]. Apple recommends a CAT6 cable be used as well. IT is much denser and heavier copper lines for more bandwidth. You only need the logic node on the computer that will be the node. You then need to make sure that you have the node software running on the 'node'. On your master computer open up preferences >> Audio >> Nodes. Select the enable logic nodes. It seems on mine I did a fresh reboot on both computers >> Started Node software on Node >> Opened up logic on G4 laptop went into nodes and I think it just auto picked up the node. It does work pretty well although I haven't used it a lot. I just wanted to test it out. Paul I hope this helps!
