Subject: Running Logic from a booted ipod?
Message #176193
Hey guys, anyone have any experience running panther and logic from a slower external drive? I'm working in a busy studio and there are several other engineers in the facility. I'd like to have my own disk with my own version of the OS and my own install of Logic and be able to move it from studio to studio. I'm hoping to use the high speed internal drives to read and write the audio files and use the smaller slower drive solely for the system files. in OS 9 i would just switch virtual memory off and have no worries that my whole system is running from RAM and the fact that my system drive has slower read speed has no effect once the software is loaded. however under OSX i'm not so sure. Am i gonna be killing my audio performance? I'm planning on booting off an iPod or smartdisk firefly and using DP G5's.
