Subject: Synths with many patch banks and Logic 7
Message #172259
Has anything been improved for Synths like the JV2080 and 5080 with too many patch banks for a single Logic environment object to address? -- Rocky Road - in Oz "Fleeing from the Cylon tyranny, the last Battlestar, Galactica, leads a ragtag, fugitive fleet, on a lonely quest, for a shining planet known as Earth."

I have always thought Logic is very good for synths with many patch banks. I have one here with 1000 patches and there's plenty of headroom until I fill up the patch addressing capability of one single multi instrument midi object. All the best Per Boysen --- http://www.boysen.se http://www.looproom.com

I'd like to know this as well. best, Jon

Yes, but there is a limit in how many banks you can access from a single Multi object. When you load up (for example) a JV2080 with expansion cards, you go over that limit and have to use a clunky workaround involved a second Multi object for the higher banks. I can't remember how many patches my 2080 has, but its probably over 2000. -- Rocky Road - in Oz "Fleeing from the Cylon tyranny, the last Battlestar, Galactica, leads a ragtag, fugitive fleet, on a lonely quest, for a shining planet known as Earth."

It's only been 11 years since I asked for this improvement. Still only room for 15 banks worth of names in L7's MIDI multi-instruments f-erenc szabo, smarty pants Z+E+R+O+B+E+A+T "NOW POWERED BY THE MIRACLE OF THE TRANSISTOR!" <http://home.goodmedia.com/~zerobeat>
