Hi everyone,
I'm doing some recording of me playing the violin, and what I'd like to
do is cycle the recording time so that each new pass of a specific
section of the song deletes the previous audio I would have just
recorded. In other words, I want to play and record a passage over and
over, and I want Logic to automatically delete the previous bad copy
that would have been just recorded, let me re-record over and over and
over again until I get it right. For now I do this all manually by
recording then stopping and deleting, going back to the starting point,
recording again, stopping, repeat, repeat, repeat. You get the idea :)
I've tried every combination of Recording Preferences under the Song
Preferences, but I can't seem to get it.
Any advice on how to save the steps?
Thanks!

Well, due to the nature of DAW's, your asking for the very unlikely.
Why don't you just cycle record. When you get the take you like, stop.
At the end of the day, just optimize your audio, deleting any unused
audio, and giving you just the data you want.
Also, when you delete after recording a pass, hit "delete" rather
then
"Keep"
It's not perfect, but even if you tried to do this with tape, you would
still have to wait for the deck to rewind. I think the optimize thing
takes much less time, don't you?
