SOME plug-ins take a long time to do their processing. Others do not.
There are numerous reasons a plug-in might cause delay:
1) ultra complex algorithm
2) algorithm is on an external device (DSP card, for example)
3) algorithm includes "lookahead" processing in which it grabs a
chunk
of audio and analyzes it before it processes it.

Interesting group of plug-ins you chose. Remember, it's not "native
vs. non-native" its delay causing vs. non-delay causing. So taking
them one at a time:
Space D: ultra complex algorithm. DELAY.
PlatinumVerb: no delay.
Compressor: no delay.
Ad-Limiter: algorithm includes lookahead. DELAY.

I keep it permanently activated. With it on, Audio Tracks and Audio
Instrument Tracks are automatically adjusted for the playback latency
of any plug-ins that cause latency. So Logic DOES have delay
compensation for some tracks. We just really need it for Bus/Aux
tracks as well.
