Please be careful when telling that "this is just not true".
In fact (maybe just re-read the link I have posted), Apple has released
an update of the AU validation utility - this alone shows, that it
has been around for a while.
All developers had access to the guidelines and the validation tool,
so Apple did not change the rules (as you implied). Usage of AU logo
was always only granted, if the guidelines were met. Now, instead of
implementing further workarounds to solve such issues, Apple have
decided to force compliance with these guidelines (because some
development companies did not care in the past).
Opposite of what you wrote, NI plugins are reporting false values
to AU validator, so in fact, it is their issue - on the other hand,
there are plugins which worked from day 1 because they followed the
rules.
Best,
Thomas
I don't get all the hassle on this subject.
I would think this is totally in line with Apple's strategy; have things
working as stable as
possible.
To have AU plugins tested to an Apple standard before use might just
garantee a much
more stable DAW, or am I wrong here?
O.
Does Space Designer now include more IRs of real rooms?
I'm ready to buy Altiverb.

I agree, I found none of the factory ones useable so I have had to make my
own. But I only have access to so many spaces, so it would be nice to get
more 'realalistic' IRs.

I may not know what I'm talking about but can't you download IRs from
many sources on the web? They should be easy to import into SD as Wavs
or AIFFs or whatever. There's an article about it in the new Electronic
Musician. If you'd like, later on, I can dig up the addresses.
