BUt they have strange names. How do you keep track of that? And I didn't
think they were AIFF - i thought it was some floating point format. Can they
be
chopped up?

Play and rename. takes a few minutes, but it's not too bad.

They are aif, and the bit rate is the rate you select in the freeze
prefs. BTW Logic 6 ONLY, not L7, AFAIK

Sure. They're just regular audio files.

I don't find those names strange at all. It's just the name of the
track that was frozen.

You can rename the copies if you want.

You have to set the preferences for the freeze format. If you set it to
24 bit they can be chopped up or edited like any other other aiff file.
If you set the freeze format to 32 bit floating point you wont be able
to import them to arrange window tracks or edit them.
All the best

I dunno, I don't find filenames like
"Dev02-Track001-1023002614.aif" to
be very intuitive at all. If I've renamed Audio 1 to "Kick Drum",
for
example, why isn't my Freeze file named "Dev02-Kick
Drum-1023002614.aif"? I have to do a lot of back-and-forth between the
Finder and the Arrange window to figure out which Freeze file I'm
trying to access.
Perhaps I'm missing a trick here?

No tricks, just a few minutes to listen and name. It's no that much
work, as I do it quite often.

True, but it would be nice if the filename was a bit easier to decipher
(eliminating the need to go through and rename anything).

But they are. It says what track, and instrument, in a sort of way. But
yes, I understand. I hear the offline freeze thing in L7 does just this
kind of thing, but we'll have to wait until we can see if it's what we
really need for this.
