Cool, but I wonder if this Ethernet should be a separate "circuit"
from the
one I use for my LAN/Broadband setup. That is, use the internal internet
port for one, use a PCI card Ethernet port for the other.

Just use the same for both. I have my Mac and PC hooked up to the net,
and each other through a Gigabit ethernet hub. FAST AS S%&t. I never
burn anything to dick if I need to go from one to the other.
