Hi,

Not completely true; it's not officially supported, but there are people
using Xpostfacto to install it. AFAIK, the Xpostfacto writer is actively
working on improvements.

The OS 10.3 itself requires a USB port? Or did you mean Logic? Anyway, I
have an OrangeMicro FW/USB card in my Beige, and the USB and Firewire work
fine - the USB, for instance, supporting the XsKey for Logic Pro 6; and the
FW a LaCie DVD +/-RW drive.

Whether an old box will be useful is an individual matter - currently I'm
editing mono spoken word and 2-track stereo audio takes. For final mix
(with SD and other plugs) I couldn't possibly use it with the current CPU
(/233), but for the composite editing it still works fine.
And who knows, maybe one of those ZIF upgrade cards will allow me to run
10.3 when I do the mixing?....
Of course, I'd be a fool to try it.
But I've been a fool before..... :-)

p.s. one of the things I've read widely about Panther is that it's FASTER
than 10.2 was, noticeably. Thus it makes sense to put it into old machines,
in places where 10.2 would have been too slow. At least, that's my
theory..... hey, maybe 10.4 will be EVEN FASTER and I can get my 7100 back
from my dad, and..... ;-)
