Sorry - and I don't speak as anybody representing Ilio or any other
manufacturer on this. I'm one of the principal programmers for Korg Japan
(main gig) and I've made 2 sampler libraries that Ilio distributes (side
gig).
You said it yourself in the above paragraph - that it's illegal. This
analogy has nothing to do in comparison to dual processors in a single
machine !!! If 2 people are using the same library (regardless of how they
do it) then they should both be paid up customers with that library. PERIOD.
No discount license fee option or special considerations. It took me over 1
year to make each of my libraries with NO MONEY for the whole time I created
it. I know a number of libraries that have taken even longer to produce !!!
I don't see how you guys think that all the sample library companies should
be expected to "simply" change their licensing structure and then
contact
every customer that has purchased an Akai or ESX24 library from them to buy
an upgraded license. It's almost impossible to make a living already doing
just sample libraries.

Look, I'm sorry if this slows down the use of ESX24 (I'm on a dual 500mhz G4
- you wanna talk about SLOW ????), but in my opinion, Apple is doing the
right thing. Especially with the 64-bit version of OSX and Logic 7 coming
down the road where things will (internally) run close to twice as fast as
they already are doing now,

So do you think that apple should prevent the copying of audio files
from one machine to another?
If that is really what is holding up EXS implementation on nodes then
they are definitely doing the wrong thing, for them you, us users or
anybody else.

Skippy, you aren't making any sense. That's the whole point, two people
are not using the library. Two machines, one person.

Please explain how using EXS on a node, which means also putting
the samples on the node, will somehow diminish sales of sample
libraries.
I would think it either wouldn't affect it at all, or even increase sales
because more people will be able to use more EXS instances and
thus want bigger libraries perhaps. I just can't think of how it makes
things worse.
