Hi There:
so I'm in the final stages of tracking for an upcoming
album, and of course I've gone and erased all the
guitars I spent 11 hours tracking yesterday.
Fortunately, I inadvertently saved all that playing in
the form of freeze files. Unfortunately, my default
setting for those freeze files was 32 bits, and I
can't seem to find a way to get Logic to re-import or
convert those 32 bit files.
Is there a workaround for this that I'm missing, or
maybe another app that'll do the trick? I'm running
Panther, with pretty much just the software the
machine came with other than Logic. Obviously, if I
have to use another app, I'd prefer free/shareware if
possible.
Thanks! ~ Mike B.

Soundhack can do this (and a million other things as well), and it's free.
Go to
versiontracker.com and seek it out.

You can set the freeze format to 24 bits. Then freeze, copy the files
out of the freeze file folder and import them into arrange window audio
tracks. Then you can cut and paste as much as you want. I completed a
very CPU intensive project on a powerbook by this technique and it
worked like charm, except for being very slow compared to working on my
G5 without freezing the soft synths.
All the best
