Does anyone else have the same problems with the FW410/Lacie
combination. I have an M-Audio Firewire 410 interface, and have been
thinking about getting a LaCie drive, but if the two don't work
together I think I'll reconsider.
Thanks,
Morten

Hello,
I have experienced similar issues, and spent way too many evenings
tearing my hair out over the issue.
I repaired permissions on my boot disk, reinstalled the drivers for
the 410, and created a new AUDIOMIDI setup that has no instruments or
connections, just the interface(s). (THIS MAY BE THE CAUSE OF A LOT
OF DIFFERENT PROBLEMS, BTW-apparently since logic accomplishes
something similar in it's environment, it can get upset when osx
tries to tell it how the studio is setup, even if the configs agree.
This observation was confirmed by emagic to me)and I at least booted
up and recorded 1 (Read em', 1! entire track), but then got some
wierd error that I've never seen before, and the 410 disappeared
again. Needless to say, I am super displeased with the 410
performance so far. The performance of some combination of logic,
OSX, my harware (amt8,fire410, mbox), plugz (DrumkitFromHell
Superior, Intakt) is starting to remind me of PC audio hell circa
1997. I thought that things were supposed to get better with time..
I called m-audio and they didn't seem to know much, just told me to
send the 410 back for testing. Great. How about I send it back, and
they send me a hammerfall?
anyways, if anyone has any success with the 410, please post. I had
an offline discussion with another helpful user who could only use
the 410 if he put it on the FW800 port, and used a 800>400 adapter.
I'm glad he has a solution, but that's not an acceptable workaround.
best
