Hi,
I've been trying unsucessfully to use the Transformer object to
control ES1 paramaters using the knobs located on my keyboard midi
controller.
I've been using the Input View object to verify that the midi data is
passing from the Transformer to the appropriate Audio Instrument
object, but it appears that the ES1 is ignoring these messages.
I tried to simplify this setup even further by using a Fader object to
send midi controller data to my ES1. Still no luck, despite the fact
that I am able to control the Fader object with my keyboard midi
controller.
Note: The ES1 responds to midi note data just fine. I've tried
sending both "Fader" and "Control" data types to the
ES1, mostly my
tests have been conducted with type 74 (Filter Cutoff?). Do ES1
paramters require some type of special/non-standard midi message?

I've been searching the FAQ's, list archives and google all night.
I'm pretty new to Logic so any help anyone could offer would be much
appreciated.

First of all, yes, they are non-standard. You get the Fader numbers by
cabling the ES1 into a Monitor object and moving the relevant control
on the ES1 to see what message it generates.
Nextly, make sure that your preferences are set up correctly. In
Files>Song Settings>Old Songs... is a menu which you should have on
"MIDI controls as satndard MIDI controls".
Then you have to make sure you're sending data on the right MIDI
channel. Ch1 is reserved for the Audio Object itself - the Volume,
Pan, Sends etc. To communicate with the ES1 you need Ch2, which
corresponds to the first plug-in slot in the Audio Object.
That should do it.
Stephen.

Stephan,
I feel a bit silly. This seems so simple. I looked -everywhere-
before asking here. Honest. =)
Thanks for your help. It's working like a treat.

My 'autodemo.zip', which is available from the Logic section of my
website, is a set of 4 tutorials explaining how to use an external
faderbox to control plug-in parameters. You might want to take a look
at it.
And of course there's Automation Quick Access, although that will
only ket you control one parameter at a time.

Shameless pimping: or LC Xmu, which will let you control pretty much
anything...
