I'm very new to the Logic Pro 6 software and I'm not getting any
sound generated when playing the onboard instruments (Grand Piano).
The music notes are showing up in the matrix window that are
generated from a Radium 61 Midi Controller so I know it recognises
that and I am using MOTU 828 mk2 as my firewire source. Is there a
setting somewhere in the Logic program that I just don't see? Some
advice would greatly be appreciated.

Could be one of a thousand things, but try some of these-
This may be too obvious, but under "Audio-->Audio Hardware and
Drivers" make
sure the 828mkII is selected in the pop-up menu in the CoreAudio driver...
make sure the piano track isn't muted in the arrange window AND the channel
isn't
muted in the mixer window. (also make sure channel 1 isn't muted)
Make sure the output of the track is routed in the mixer channel strip to
the standard
output going to your 828mkII (Output 1-2 or whatever your 828 says).
When you play back your MIDI part, watch the meter on your 828mkII -if
nothing is
appearing in the meter, then there's something in Logic that needs to be
changed - if
you're getting a meter signal but no sound, you might check your amp and
monitors,
etc.

Thanks for the onfo Geoff but unfortuntely it didn't work. I am
running Reason 2.5 on the same system (G5) and I get sound from it
but for some reason no sound is coming out of Logic.

Check to make sure you have the right outputs selected. I remember
something being funky with the 828 and the output assignment.

Onboard Grand Piano? Sounds like you're on one of the default GM MIDI
tracks and have nothing as a sound module. Try changing to an "Audio
Instrument" track and putting one of the built in synthesizers in the
bottom plug-in slot, like the ES M.
Have you read the Getting Started manual? It should be in the box that
came with Logic.
