Hi Ben,
I had the same question for Logic a few weeks ago.
I phone up the tech support team at Soundtech, and the reply was that Logic
itself is unable to take advantage of a Dual Processor, but if you run third
party pluggins this will be able to use the second Processor.
You should have a look at some very recent messages regarding memory over
512k as there appears to be issues with this and Logic on a PC.
Blayz
Tell me if anyone finds this strange..
I recently upgraded my Logic machine to:
Asus P4C800 deluxe, 512MEG DDR400 (Kingston) x 4, P4 3.0ghzE (1 meg cache).
This is the model with the firewirse, gigalan, SATA, RAID etc..
I have a SATA drive for boot, hyperthreading is on etc etc.. this thing is
just blazing.
However, in logic I sometimes get "Out of memory" Errors.. !
Weird!
Other parts in the machine: Layla20, UAD1, Matrox P750 Triple Head, WinXP
Home.
I had no issues on my athlon1800.
Any Ideas?
Neil

Neil,
Were you using the same OS on the Athlon machine?
First thing that comes to mind is hyperthreading, Logic wasn't
designed to deal with multi-processor PCs much less a "virtual"
multi-processor system.
You can try the VCACHE entry in the system.ini to see if it makes any
difference.
If you don't have a VCACHE entry in the system.ini copy and paste the
entry below.
[VCACHE]
MinFileCache@960
MaxFileCache@960
