Subject: hardware stability question
Message #164295
hi, i am running a g4 800 and a digidesign 001, and have been having problems with logic platinum 6 on os 10. There is constant driver instability on the hardware end of things. Does anyone know of problems that exist with this setup, and can anyone recomend a better hardware interface with the same or more i/o? thanks dan

The digi 001 is a bit of a bugger when it comes to playing with Logic. It's digidesign and their desire to have you only use their app with their hardware. Do not use the midi if you want it to work with Logic. Make sure the digital I/O is not set to light-pipe. Those 2 things should help a bit. A good replacement is the RME stuff, which seems to be the best at this time. Good stable drivers and such. I use 3 cards with Logic: The M Audio FW 410 works pretty good, but has issues with latency. The Tascam FW 1884 works very good as well, and can also be used like a Logic control type tactile surface. The Lynx 2 b sounds the best by a mile, and with the latest drivers, soon to be public, finally works with little or no latency, and plays well with my UAD-1 card. 3 other options than the RME... Either way, I'd ditch the Digi001, and get ANY other device... Good luck, George www.utopiaparkwaymusic.com Now both Mac OSX and Windows XP... the only way to fly ;-)
