I created some tracks at a friend's home studio and am trying to import the
wav files into
logic to arrange them. When I try loading them (dragging and dropping them),
I get the
following message: "Insufficient access privileges for operation,
result code -5000". Since
we created the wav files, I wouldn't have thought their would be any sort of
protection on
the files. Am I doing something incorrectly?
PS - I had the same problem when I converted some old band tapes to CD using
a
standalone cassette-CD machine. When I import the files to edit, same error,
then each
time I launch the session, Logic tries to re-import the files.
Thanks,
Kevin

You don't mentioned what OS you're using... if you're on OS X try Get
Info on the wav files and make sure your permissions are set correctly.
Also check the file's association -- I noticed that Logic will allow me
to import AIFF files that are currently set to open with either
BiasPeak or Logic, but not others - I have to change the association
first before Logic will allow me to use them.

I'm on a Mac, exchanging files regularly with a writing partner who uses
Logic for
Windows, so we ran into the same problem. I found that I can select the WAV
files and the
folders containing them all at once and change Ownership & Permissions
using Get Info
(command I) only once. I don't have to repeat the process for each file.

Go to "Get Info" from your FILE pulldown menu and check to see if
your
Privledges allow to to "read & write" or just
"read". If the file is
set to "Read Only" change it to "Read & Write" and
everything will
work fine.
It's an OS X "permissions" thing.

You might also try using the Repair Permissions tool in the Apple Disk
Utility (assuming you're using OS X).

Thank you all for the information. I did forget to mention that I am running
OSX. Again,
thanks.
Kevin
It always happen when files imported on a mac from a PC burned CD.
Remember to change privileges.
