Subject: Re: Sound card for sound fonts
Message #9931
Hello Pascal, >I have just been reading up on some stuff and I need a card to use >with soundfonts SoundFont is the most widely used soundcard sampling format, used by Creative Labs, the Emu (Creative) APS, and some soft samplers. The cheapest card to run this format is the SB Live Value. Marketing may have renamed it but it's the one without digital I/O. I use this card with good results and it has MIDI I/O on a joystick port breakout. Apparently Creative plan to sell APS (advanced music) drivers which will work on SB Live hardware in the near future. This will allow use of complex sample modulators & FX setups. However the card functions well with LiveWare 2.1 drivers as is. Correction : Some months ago (OneList archives) I posted fairly comprehensive tips on using this card. At that time I was unable to control reverb for audio (eg Logic multitracking) independently from reverb for MIDI. Recently I have found the hidden control and can now easily combine multi-track digital audio with MIDI sequencing from the one card. Cheers, Thomas
