Subject: patch librarian for logic osx ?/ idea
Message #162775
I'd like to be able to integrate a patch librarian into logic, so when i open a logic song, it sends patches via sysex to my external synths. Something like a "plugin" librarian that can store and recall patches automatically with each logic song. Which are the librarians for osx? only sounddiver and unisyn? (has anyone heard anything about sounddiver anyway?)

You could do this with an AU plugin I think. I was planning to (eventually) try hacking up a simple TX81Z editor this way, since AUs can connect directly to CoreMidi, bypassing the host's midi i/o. You'd instantiate them in an unused Audio object. The AU preset/patch management mechanism could be used to load/save patches. An AU implementation would also allow use of the host's automation capabilities with the editor parameters. It's possibly a misuse of the AU spec, but a useful misuse... It's by no means a trivial task. How much programming experience do you have? How much programming experience do > you have? thanks for your feedback john, i was starting to think that i am the only one with this problem. Well, the problem is that i don't have any experience in programming. I'm trying to find a solution to this problem for ages. I believe that this simple task of hearing a song exactly the way it was saved (when using external synths),should be easier. I am amased that no such thing exists! Sounddiver isn't yet released on osx (will it ever?) and anyway it is a much more complicated app due to the editing capabilities. How is everybody dealing with this? do you use your synths internal memories? i find this very inconvenient. Maybe we can ask emagic to design an AU plugin that acts as a simple midi librarian. any opinions on this?
