Hi everyone,
I've got 2 MacOSx-Newbe questions. Please pardon my
redundancy if that has been discussed here before.
I did not know what to look for in the archives.
1 of 2:
How to label MIDI ports in OSx so when I want to
assign a track to MIDI out ports, I could see the
intrument name I'd like to put there instead of
"Unitor 8 Port-1" ? When I go in the MIDI/Audio setup
of OSx, I can only rename instruments, but not the
physical MIDI Ports of my Unitor. Is is still
possible?
I was used to that "friendlyness" in PC-Windows driver
settings of the Unitor. Wish there's a way...
2 of 2:
Same as the first question, but regarding Audio inputs
and outputs of my RME HDSP-9652 sound card. Does
anybody have an idea of how I could label things at
a level which would force logic to display i/o names
instead of i/o ports numbers? That would help a lot.
Am I asking too much for productivity ease ? =)
Thank you for your attention and suggestions in
advance.

I don't believe this is possible yet. I think Digital Performer _may_
be able to use the names of devices defined in AudioMidi Setup, but
Logic and many other apps certainly don't. I would expect this to
change as CoreMidi matures and Logic becomes better integrated with that.

"View >> I/O Labels" menu in the Audio Configuration
window...

You can label in Logics Audio Configuration window. Select i/o labels
from the local menu.
