I am trying to mix some songs that I got from a PC-user on logic 5.5.
Everything seems to work fine - logic tells me it is converting the
song from windows format to'
mac format and the it gives me a choice for the
audiofiles(Wave,ASIO-format) to convert it to the CORE AUDIO format.
this is where something strange happens. I'm getting an errormessage
-5000 for each audiofile as the overviews are written.
After this everything appear to be allright but it's not. the files are
locked somehow and it doesn't help to repair or changing the
permissions. I can play the files but I can't get into sample-edit
except for a couple of seconds just when I have started up the song.
Am I doing something wrong? Is it a bug? Is there a workaround for this?
I have the windowsfiles on CD and have tried to copy them first to both
my internal drive and my firewiredrive. I have also
tried to copy the files from the CD using logic. have also tried to
rename and convert the files to SDII and AIFF but they remain unable to
open in sample edit.
If anybody has got a hunch on this please fill me in!

Hi Håkan,
Try this:
after copying your files to the audio drive, select them, and change their
attributes under the info pane,so that you can both read and write on
them.You
can do this to a bunch of files,by changing the enclosing folder's
attributes, and selecting the button at the bottom for applying to enclosed
items
It looks like the song file is the one causing the trouble, but also maybe
that
the audio files are also write-protected.
Once they are all read-write enabled, you should be good to go.
Cheers,
Nick
