I'm very new to all this and am wondering about whether I should
invest in a control surface or just Get a good audio interface and
use my keyboard and mouse. Of the many posts I read both here and
other places, there seems to be a lot with issues in regard to
control surfaces interfacing with software properly. Do these same
issues exist when using an audio interface with the keyboard and
mouse? I know coming from an analog recording background a "mixer"
is
easier, but I don't care if it will save me from all these headaches
others seem to be having. Thanks in advance for your input. Tim

I think that is *very* much a matter of personal preference...

You mean a standard card or card/box without any MIDI controlling? This
won't give you headache - you are going to use Logic how it likes it.
Especially if you come from analog mixing you might sooner or later be
tired of handling vertical on-screen faders by horizontal mouse
movement just one by one without tactile feedback. But if your main
interest is mixing and you are willing to spend 1500-2500 bucks you are
lucky. There are very good motorized controllers for that.
I would first get a good audio interface for a good sound and think
later about hardware controlling. The time works for you...

Does anyone have any successful experience with getting Groove Agent to run
under the VST2Au wrapper?
It simply crashes Logic Pro (on a G% with 2Gb memory) and has to be
uninstalled!

Its working here on the same machine. I would try removing a few other
plugs and adding them back one at a time. In particular, I had trouble
with Native instrument plug ins. What else are you using? Also, are
you using the latest version of the wrapper?

Its the latest version in that it was just ordered and installed Friday?
There are two other native instrument plug ins which I'll remove and try
again thanks

I forgot to mention... If removing the Native instrument plugins works,
then put them back and remove only the VST versions of Native PlugIns
that are still there. You don't need them anyway, since there are now
AU versions installed. On my machine, this made everything work.
Good Luck
