[Note from admin: please send all replies privately or to Logic-OT, thanks!]
Anyone know of a solution to using a legit version of the old
Atari software under a PC or Mac emulator? I'm guessing not, as
you'd need some sort of hardware interface to it. (Hmmm, wonder if
there's a market for PCI dongle adapters...) I do still have Atari
equipment, but it would be a lot more convenient if I could run
Notator on my Mac or PC using an emulator. I could live without MIDI.

p.s., Come to think of it, I question if any modern printers would
even be usable under old Notator. Hmmmmmmmmm. Even running it under
an Atari emulator would probably not help with this...
Is there any software out there that will convert old .son files
to MIDI files? Or do I just have to get my old ST running again (or
get Logic of course!)?
Thx,
Michael

This is certainly not OT as Logic will open Notator files directly.
It's probably your best bet.
I've seen various Atari OS "emulators" in the past, but none of
them
worked for me with Notator as I was always asked for a dongle! (I
won't recommend looking for a crack)
I've just checked and Logic 7.0.1 opens my old Notator files just
fine. (File type: .son Creator: clab)
One warning:
Only the patterns which were in the Notator Arrange list will show up
when opened in Logic. So, if you used to work in one pattern only,
which wasn't in the Arrange list, you're stuffed. Also, myself and
many other users used to put extra data (like Sysex) on ptn99 for
safekeeping, but didn't include this pattern in the Arrange. Once
again, you're screwed.
If any of the above apply, it's best to get the old ST fired up,
re-save all your songs and then get Logic anyway.
Best regards - Colin
