It is likely a polyphony issue. Perhaps at this specific part, more actual "voices" are being triggered, even though there are no additional VI instances. It is the amount of voices being triggered that has an effect on CPU drain; not the mere existence of the VI tracks/instruments themselves. So check your parts. Drop out a voice or two to see if that solves the problem. If so, use freeze as a workaround. > 3. Or consider another audio card or audio interface. Unless it is a DSP based card (like the Metric Halo stuff, or Protools TDM) it is unlikely there will be a significant difference in horsepower with any of the native based cards. I think the RME has some modest DSP on it as well that may take some of the mixing load off of your processor. But other than that, it's all about how well the specific drivers for the specific cards are written that determines their efficiency. Have you tired increasing your buffer size with your current setup? That will likely temporarily get you over this little hurdle you are facing. -- Eli Krantzberg Nightshift Orchestra / Almat Productions http://www.nightshiftorchestra.com
