Subject: Logic Express questions from Newbie
Message #160871
Hello to all, It's been a while since I was a newbie at a software program, but yesterday I purchased the new Logic Express package. I have not yet installed it, but I wanted to post a couple of general questions...one of which should help me with some "self-help" without running back to the group every day (which I still might wind up doing! Thanks in advance to those of you with a big heart and lots of patience!). 1. What's the best tutorial book out right now on Logic? I've seen a few and would appreciate your input before plunking down some more hard earned cash. 2. I own the limited version of ChickenSystems Translator. I am thinking of upgrading to the full version so I can do EXS24 conversions. Thoughts on the quality of translation to EXS format? Is CD Xtract a better program? (I am looking to translate a number of E- mu ESI format disks, plus a few Akai disks.) 3. In re: to question 2, does the sample playback only version included with Logic Express fully play back ANY EXS24 programs? 4. Any hard earned lessons relating to the installation process? I am going to use this on a 1gHz 12" Powerbook w/768 meg RAM running OS 10.3.3. As of now I will only be using the built-in audio. I am using an Oxygen 8 controller. 5. This one is wide open: general advice for setting up the program for limited audio recording, but heavy use of the sampler (as much as she can take, cap'n). In fact the audio recording would just be "internal", recording the output of the sampler into a stereo track for eventual conversion to mp3. I'll stop with those, and if I haven't said it enough yet, thanks in advance for your help! Brad

Orrens book is great for starters, Lens book is good for tips, and if you into audio visual, my tutorial at VTC is good. > > > > 3. Go to www.vtc.com and look up my Logic Audio 6 tutorial. The first 3 chapters, that deal with setup are free to check out. That should get you up and running. > > I'll stop with those, and if I haven't said it enough yet, thanks in > advance for your help! > Your welcome, G3 www.utopiaparkwaymusic.com Now both Mac OSX and Windows XP... the only way to fly ;-)
