Subject: Midi Events
Message #160811
hi, does anyone know of alternative ways to copy midi events? rather than just using the `Functions` > `Copy Midi Events` feature...for transfering pitch bend, etc... Is there someway of `merging` it with the block note so as i pick up the note, i pick up the midi event too? also i would like to know this for when i assign notes and chords to a chord memorizer...i.e. can i assign a midi event too? or do i need to manually copy / insert the relevant midi events into a sequence triggered by the chord memorizer? thanks, ivan

I mostly use the Event List for this: select the note(s) and other event(s), then copy and paste, then either type in the position for the copied events or hit return and drag 'em. (I really miss the control-click feature for this - too bad it went AWOL) > also i would like to know this for when i assign notes and > chords to a chord memorizer...i.e. can i assign a midi event too? > or do i need to manually copy / insert the relevant midi events > into a sequence triggered by the chord memorizer? Not sure what you mean here. Chord memorizers don't trigger sequences. AFAIK they just pass non-note events straight through.

I copy/paste (or option-drag) the entire MIDI region (a MIDI region is called a "sequence" in Logic). That's the only way to consider all the MIDI data as one "entity". And as of Logic6, the new marquee tool makes this a lot easier, because we now have the ability to select a portion of a region. > > >also i would like to know this for when i assign notes and >chords to a chord memorizer...i.e. can i assign a midi event too? >or do i need to manually copy / insert the relevant midi events >into a sequence triggered by the chord memorizer? I've read this question 4 times and I still don't understand it. f-erenc szabo, smarty pants Z+E+R+O+B+E+A+T "NOW POWERED BY THE MIRACLE OF THE TRANSISTOR!" <http://home.goodmedia.com/~zerobeat>

If by this you mean have midi CCs or pitchbend etc memorized and generated as part of the chord, no, the chord memorizer only handles notes. In this case what you want is Touch Tracks, which can memorize entire sequences containing any midi event - look up Touch Tracks in the manual and Logic help menu.
