First off all, Mbox doesn't have midi capabilities so your midi problem
has nothing to do with Mbox itself.
I have an Mbox and a Emagic MT4 myself and then work beautifully side
by side.
First thing you might probably wanna try is checking your midi cables
and see if the midi interface has power.
Then check with your synth or whatever thats hooked up if the interface
recieves signal via a midi in port.
If that all works then you should have midi in capabilities into Logic
Still a no go? Maybe its the driver for your midi interface?!
Try reinstalling them, that should probably fix it.
This is all the help i can give you since i never had any midi problems.
It just always worked fine by me from the first time on, that as a
sidenote.
But nine out of ten problems with midi I/O i ever heard of are due to
bad cabling, corrupted drivers and even forgetting to turn on the
power.
About the new midi device with the big red question mark on it, beats
me!
I have it to since i hooked up my Mbox.
I never really asked myself the question what it was for because
everything was working fine so i didn't bother to look up what it
really is.
There's one thing i can say about it, it's something from Digidesign!
:-) but what the freak it is? I honestly don't know!
A small guess of mine is that it has something to do with the
Digidesign coreaudio driver or in any way a Digidesign related software
component, since this is the same driver that all the Digidesign
interfaces use for coreaudio and coremidi applications.
For instance, the Digi 001 and the Digi 002/rack, they have midi
capabilities.
That would somehow explain that new midi device.
Since it is ridicules to write a different driver for every interface
if you can pack a driver for all the interfaces at once.
The big red question mark?
Sort of like, the driver is installed but there's no hardware or can't
find the midi hardware.
Again, this is pure guessing.
So if someone really knows what its for, could you please explain it?
Greetz,
JanG
