Subject: [Arrange] Send Program Change msg. to effects units ?
Message #9824
Hello everyone. I've been trying to set up a sequence that would do nothing more than send a Program Change message to a couple of different effects. If it matters, they are an Alesis Q2, a Yamaha Rev500, and a Zoom 1204. Using LAWP 4.04 - I've tried two things, both of which seem to work intermittently? 1. Create new track in the Arrange window (I used the MIDI output port my effects are connected to) Create a new, empty sequence on that track. Select the sequence and open the Hyper Editor. Use the pencil tool to draw an event on the Program line (at the first beat division in this case) BTW -- I already had a Floating Event List open Now, when the SPP passes over the sequence I created I can see the event I created, and I'm able to click and get the list of the generic Patch Numbers. Selecting one of these numbers DOES cause the effect unit in question to change patches. However, it DOES NOT change to the selected patch when the song is playing? 2. The second thing I tried was to create a new instrument in the environment. I named it according to which instrument it is, let's say the Q2. I set the parameters of this new instrument to correspond to the appropriate MIDI channel and port. Besides this difference, I get the same unpredictable results SOMETIMES, EITHER one of these combos will work properly but usually nothing happens. What am I missing here? I'm hoping it's a simple oversight. Ultimately I'd like to create an environment for each of these effects units just so I can select the patches by name. I'm simply not experienced enough to do so yet... ;-( A solution will be greatly appreciated. Thanks CM
