Hi Jack Heitzer and the users
I answer to your question:
"Is there a way to notate the following:
3 quarter triplet notes of which the last is devided into 2 8-triplets.
So: quarter triplet, quarter triplet, 8th triplet, 8-triplet, all under
one bracket."
Not really, but almost:
enter a quarter triplet (1/6) note with the mouse from the partbox
enter the sign n-tuplet from the same partbox. Put it over the note
a menu appears which you fill as 6 : 4 /8 and click in "allow
for double value.
Now you get a sign 6-tuplet with the place for 4 sextuplet left.
select the value 1/6 by pressing key [a] then key [e]. in your
transport you should now see a value of 1/6
Enter another sextuplet, (using your midi keyboard this time)
select the value 1/12 by pressing key [s] then key [e]. In your
transport you should now see a value of 1/12
Enter the two last sextuplets
Now you get a 1/6 a 1/6 and two 1/12under a ----6-----
ideally you should have had this under a ------3------
But I do not think that Logic allows that.
Also no musician will complain
read your manual 13-35
and Johannes Prischl's book p73
Hope I helped
best regards
