Just a wild shot in the dark here; but is it possible you have assigned a
track name in the arrange window and are viewing track names only and not
instrument names?
I have been caught by this myself a few times. I find logic doesn't handle
this situation too intelligently. If you have the view track names option
enabled in the arrange window and then use the create a new track with next
instrument key command, it seems to copy the actual "track name"
to the new
track (even though it may be creating a new instrument). This seems fairly
unintuitive. The behavior of when Logic seems to copy the track name to new
tracks seems a bit confusing and inconsistent.
If you are viewing track names, try toggling it off, and examine the
behaviour with the create new track commands. It may become more apparent to
you what is going on.
Or, I may be totally on the wrong track here....... :-))
