Subject: Using Garageband instruments with Logic?
Message #158182
I just got Garageband, cool software. It has got many instruments I miss inLogic, particularly bass. Does anyone know if it is possible to use the instruments in Garageband with Logic (version 6 platinum)? If yes, how? Greetings Bjørn

I found GB a bit limited but would like to use some of the sampled instruments with Logic. I'm not into hacking into workarounds, but if you are interested you can check out the "Bandtologic": software for mac os x (tm) bandtologic Converts GarageBand song data to Logic song files, thus allowing MIDI export. (Perl 5 / CamelBones) http://www.web42.com/software/bandtologic/ A great source for staying up-to-date on this kind of information is http://www.osxaudio.com Best wishes Per Boysen -- www.boysen.se www.looproom.com

( wonder why they make it this complicated, after all we have paid for both logic and garageband??) I looked at the "bandtologic" also, but got cold feet when I read all the warnings. seems to be a too immature product. Thanks bjørn

They just hurried like hell to get it completed for release as fast as possible. After all compatibility between GB and Logic is promised for "Logic 7" > I wonder if it will be possible to upgrade directly from Logic Platinum 6to > Logic Pro 7 or if one has to upgrade to version 6 "Pro" first. Has anybody > heard anything about this? As I understood the talk at NAMM Logic Pro 7 will be a paid upgrade including some major improvements. I have heard nothing about having to upgrade to Pro 6 first. For those who already own all softsynths it appears less expensive to stay with Logic 6 until august when Pro 7 (or whatever the official name will be) is due. Personally I'm not yet sufficiently informed on eventual bug fixes coming with Logic 6.4, so you might have to put some research into that before making up your mind about what to do. hello, i'm on OS 10.2.7 using Logic 6.3.1, recently i have tried running Kontakt and it completely screws up logic. anybody know if upgrading OS and or logic will solve the problems. also absynth and intakt are not appearing as audio units within logic. is this all down to NI or has logic to take the blame? it is very frustrating. many thanks paul
