Hi,
i posted this a few weeks ago but got no responses: Is there anybody
succes=
sfully
using logic 6.3.3 with one of the new alu powerbooks? I´m trying to
install=
Logic with
Panther 10.3 on my brandnew PB 17" and Logic keeps most of cases
hanging on=
startup while showing "setting up memory buffers". I can´t
force quit thep=
rogram
then. I installed a fresh OS, tried different ram modules, just installed
L=
ogic and no
other apps, no driver for midi or audio (using built in core audio driver)
=
and repaired
permissions right after installing logic. Can anybody confirm this? just
to=
figure out
there is no hardware defect on my machine? (Mailed to emagic tech support
t=
he full
story, they want to check it out too - so what´s going on here???)
thanks a lot for responses!
regards,
Jascha

I am using it on a new 15" PowerBook (bought last month). No problems
so far. I haven't really pushed it (just got Logic), but it launches
and I can work with it; hasn't crashed yet (not even once).

I'm running it great on a 17". No problems here either, although I am
also new to Logic and haven't done anything fancy. I do have several
AUs all working fine and have VSL Opus 1 installed as well.

I'm with Ben... using with Logic Audio P, and have playback of 24
tracks 24 bit 44,100, a few plugins, and about 60% dsp, off my internal
drive. Love it!

Hi,
are you running Panther? I can´t get it working with new OS 10.3
installed from the DVD, installed Logic Platinum 6.0.1 from CD,
updated it to 6.3.3 by replacing program file and repaired disk
permissions before launching logic the first time. (emagic told me
to do so). They also told me to skip the setup assistant. But logic
often keeps showing the spinning beach ball during start up and just
hangs....
It worked for some time, but randomly the beach balls comes up,
often when I just saved the session. This is so unstable, can´t
work
with it.... :-((
no AU´s installed
built in core audio driver
no external hardware attached
apple hardware test successful
what am I doing wrong here??????

Powerbook 17" 1.33Ghz, 1,5 Gigs of RAM, LAP 6.33 here...
Very stable and fast, even when using AU-converted VSTs, crashed once and
that was my
fault.

I'm running 10.3.2; the PB came with Panther preinstalled; I repeatedly
ran Software Update until it stopped getting new stuff, then did Repair
Permissions. When I installed Logic (6.0.1 CD), I updated it to 6.3.3
then did Repair Permissions again, and it works.
Only trouble was Reason stopped working; fixed by reinstalling the REX
Shared Library (from Propellerheads' FAQ) and good to go.
I can only suggest that something I got from Software Update may have
forestalled the problems you're seeing.

Are you running panther? How did you install logic?? Can you quit
the program and restart it again without trouble???
Thanx for help,
Jascha
