These days I tend to select all the regions in the Arrange and run the "Audio >> Regions to individual audio files" function. Then when all is well, select and control-delete the original file in the Audio window if desired. Simple. The other way is to use the "optimize files" command in the Audio window, which will keep it all in one audio file but delete the unused audio between regions. You can optionally specify some preservation outside the region boundaries for later edits or crossfades. See the manual (Audio Window section). There is more that can potentially go wrong with this method however, and if you're going to use it I highly recommend saving the song, select the file(s) and use the "copy files" command, let logic re-reference to the copies, save the song under a new name, then optimize the copies and save again. Then you can delete the originals when all is well. Copying first does negate any disk-space advantages over the first method though, so the only advantage is the region-boundary safety margin. Strip Silence only regions off the audio file, it doesn't actually delete the audio in between the regions. There is a feature in the Audio Window (local file menu) called "Optimize" that deletes all audio from a file that has no region referencing it. So naturally you'd have to get rid of the whole region (the one that references the ENTIRE audio file), or else optimize wouldn't actually do anything. f-erenc szabo, smarty pants Z+E+R+O+B+E+A+T "NOW POWERED BY THE MIRACLE OF THE TRANSISTOR!"
