Hi,
Having recently ugraded my aging amp and speakers with an active
monitoring system, I have been left without a headhone socket.
Now, (I assume) I need to set up a stereo monitoring channel to feed
a headphone preamp.
my setup:
LAP 5.5.1
RME 9636 with ADI8-Pro (8 analogue outputs)
Blue Sky System One
Can somebody please tell me how I can have the same signal
as that coming out of Master 1 (Output1and2) routed to another
Master (eg Master2 (Outputs 3and4) so I can send those to the preamp?
Another solution I can think of is to Send individual tracks via Bus
to the outputs which will feed the headphones preamp (with the
advantage of being able to create a separate headphone mix). But
what if I want to hear the same stereo mix as that of Master1,
surely there must be a simple solution?
Any insight on the working methods of the pros will be much
appreciated.
Best regards,
Alex

Alex - I would suggest purchasing a Samson C-Control rather than a headphone
amp, as it is a device that you can plug the output of your audio interface
into, and it will give you control over the speaker volume, headphone volume
and talkback. Only £100 or so...

Leaving aside the question of your choice of headphone amp (well, OK:
the ADI sounds great, don't compromise with a crappy phones amp), and
assuming the 9636 is non-DSP and thus doesn't have RME's TotalMix:
Output all your mix tracks and effect busses etc to another bus -
select them all in the audio environment, hold down option, change the
output.
Output that "master" bus to your Master 1.
Setup an Aux using the master bus as its input.
Output the Aux to Master 2.
Save as Autoload - it's a handy setup.
