Hi all
I've been given a file archived as a .zap file. I've gone to the emagic site
and Zap's no
longer there. If anyone can help extract the file, please reply personally
to

Hi,
I've had something strange happen since I've moved from a G4 tower over to
my new Powerbook. The custom icons for Logic and Logic song files are
missing. While the icons being gone is not that big of a deal, since this
has happened I can't start Logic by just double clicking a song file. I
have to load up Logic first and then select open to start the song. Also
this has happened to my waveshell-vst as well and I can't select or load it
via the vst plugins menu in Logic.
Any ideas what's going on?

Hi, you have to rebuild your desktop..

Hi there,
I've done that many times. And used both Norton Utilities and Disk Warrior
on the drive but still no luck :(

Rebuilding your desk top is good advice and the likely answer to your
problem. However the usual method for doing so makes use of the
existing desk top file and if this has been corrupted it may not
help. For this reason it is best to throw out this file and start
fresh. You do so by getting the free version of Tech Tool, which can
do just that plus the complete rebuild.

Logic 6 is the first version with custom icons.
In the master folder with the Logic6 application, there
also has to be another folder called "Emagic Resources"
and in this folder another folder called "Icons" (with many
.png icon files)
I have experienced the bug that double-clicking on the song
doesn't open any version of Logic. And sometimes a bug where
it opens an OLDER version of Logic (it's supposed to search for
the newest version - this goes for any Mac application). I simply
boot Logic directly first.

Reinstall logic from an original disk.
That's the only way I've ever managed to Retrieve the Icons .

Hi,
Sorry, I was tired so not specific enough with my use of language. By custom
Icons I meant the Icons that Logic 4.8.1 was installed with and the icon
that it created for its song files. IE, not the generic pencil on a envelope
that the program wound up with or the blank white sheet the songs became.
But thank you again as you've many many many times over posted info to this
list that has been helpfull to me.

This turned out to be a large part of the issue so thank you! Tech Tool kept
crashing so I downloaded Trash€Desktop 1.3.1 (freeware) which deletes the
desktop files as well and this seemed to do the trick. After that i still
had vanilla Icons but my Powerbook booted up much more quickly so I just
reinstalled both Logic and Waves and suddenly my creative process was back
to "normal". Thank you!!!! :)
