Does anyone have any idea if stores will get Logic Pro the same day they
ship it from
Apple.com? Should I just order it now and wait the 10 - 15 days or could I
get it
earlier by just gettin' it at the stores when it comes in? I'm impatient! :)

First thing you should realize about apple is that it's a 50/50 chance that
it will even ship out when they say it will. I ordered apple.com and it says
2/24, but I'm not holding my breath :) When it does ship know one can know
whether it will be there the same day, but around the same time is likely,
give or take a few days.

If you're impatient then by all means order it now! However you might save
$50 by waiting a few extra weeks to see it at guitar Center or some other
dealer..

Looks like we may have to be patient. I just ordered the Logic Pro 6
update today at Sweetwater. The rep at Sweetwater told me that they
would not get any shipments of LPro6 until mid to late March. Maybe
Apple will ship to direct purchase customers before shipping to Music
Distributors like Sweetwater, but I doubt it.

Hey Dave: Did you pay full price? JP

I dont know why everyone seems to think its going to be cheaper in a
retail outlet.
Have you ever seen Final Cut Pro or Express sell for below Apples prices?
Go check Audiomidi.com who have it listed for 199 just like Apple does.
If audiomidi doesnt have it cheaper no one will.
As far as Apple shipping on time.. Hmm my iLife arrived at 10am the day
it came out. Hmm my Panther as well as Jaguar both arrived before noon
the day they were supposed to ship. Hell I think I got Panther a day
before everyone else did.
Now if they run out of cds like the good old Logic 6 upgrade fiasco,
then were in trouble, but Apple will still ship it on time.

Well perhaps you're right. We'll see. Emagic Logic has always been
obtainable for below-retail..but perhaps Apple is taking over enough to stop
that forever. We'll soon find out.

Yes, I paid full price ($699 for an upgrade from 4.81). I checked with
Sam Ash and they were going to charge me full price too. Guitar Center
told me they didn't know how they were going to handle the upgrade and
couldn't quote me a price.
Apple told me that the retailers (such as Guitar Center and Sam Ash) would
probably discount LPro 6, but so far that hasn't been my experience. In any
event, Sweetwater has free shipping on this item.
Kind regards,

That's often true but if they really are just making a consolidated
package out of all the stuff that already exists in logic then there
is no particular reason why they should not be able to ship it
tomorrow if they want to.
Right?

Not necessarily. A new manual could cause a hold-up.
Secondly, there must be enough supply in the pipeline
to support the huge number of requests that Apple will
receive for the upgrade, which may take awhile to
build up. Just think of all the shiny new dongles
that upgraders from versions 4 and before will need.

Plus I believe they also offer a certain amount of
tech support. Which is rather rare. Although if you've
been using Logic since v.4.81, you probably don't need
it. JP
