Hi, I just made the switch and even though I've read much of the
manual, I still have a
few questions:
1. What's the best way to create a stereo mix of my song, including
frozen tracks?
2. In DP, when you create a project it automatically creates an
audio file folder. When
you import a sample into DP it makes a copy of that sample. to the
audio file folder
and works from that. Is there a way to do this in Logic? DP used to
work the way
logic does and I often times ended up accidentally moving my samples
instead of
copying them.
3. Is there a more simple (faster) way to copy an effect from one
insert slot to
another, other than going into the pop up and selectiing copy
settings, paste settings?
4. Is there a way to automatically rename freeze files?
5. There is a button in the transport section of the arrange window
that has a H. What
does that do?
That it for now, but I'm sure I'll be back with some more question.
Thanks in advance
for any help.

With MIDI tracks controlling MIDI devices or with external FX ? Record it.
Everything in the box ? Route everything to one Output and Bounce.

The strategy in Logic is different, as you found out, in that you're invited
to use audio files from everywhere.

Arrangement>Audio>Convert Regions To Individual Audio Files
or
Audio>Audio Files>Copy/Convert Files

Open the Audio Configuration window and check out the hand tool.

Nope, as they're not intended to be renamed. I don't think it is a good idea
if you want to keep them doing their task in your song. You can move and
rename them, then import into the song *if* they're not 32bit, then tick off
the Freeze button, but depending on the exact purpose, Bounce or Merge or
Convert Regions To Individual Audio Files is probably way faster.

Check out the Hide feature in the manual.

Press the bounce (BNCE) button on the relevant Output object in the
audio mixer.

That's just how Logic works. You'll have to do this stuff manually.

Audio Configuration window. Pick the hand tool, and Option-drag an
effect from one slot to another to copy it. just dragging (without
Option) will move it instead.
>4. Is there a way to automatically rename freeze files?
No. Why would you want to do that? In normal use they're
'transparent' and there's no need to mess with their names, is there?
(Unless you want to manually insert the frozen audio on an audio
track in Arrange of course, in which case you'd better make a copy in
the Finder, and rename and import the copy.)

"Hide". Click the big 'H' button (so it gets blue) and all tracks
will get a small 'H' button. Now click some of the small H's, and
click the big H again: the tracks you've just selected will be
hidden. Click the big H again, and they'll be back. It's magic...
:-)
Note that the big H will be orange if tracks have actually been
hidden, and colourless otherwise.
