Subject: [LAW] .avi on PC in 5.1
Message #156129
i'm trying to hear the audio track of a .avi file that i have imported into logic 5.1. I have checked the box in video setting that says 'play video auido' (or something along those lines), and stil i hear nothing coming out of any of my computer outputs. Has anyone been faced with this problem before. I am running windows XP with like i said Logic 5.1 Thanks for the insight!

I have had some success getting the audio from an avi to play however it is not solid ie it sometimes works sometimes not. (I have not been able to nail down the problem, when it works great) Use cinepac codec I've found that to be the best. I tend to create a .wav file of the audio from the avi and import that to a logic track not ideal however it works every time.

Yes - from what i remember, you will have to have two sets of audio hardware. Use ASIO (usually) for your main interface driver - and have a second card in there like a 2496 or MIA etc or even a SB Live using PC AV within Logic. The Video's Audio Track with Play back via the PC AV. Realistically - if you have a util that can extract the audio,, just do that and lay it up on a regular audio track. If you're sneaky about it - you may beable to use a multioutput card with multiclientdrivers and asign asio to use a few and then have the PC AV use unused outputs. Hope that helps, Neil
