Subject: Re: Optimal track use in arrange (MIDI only)
Message #9620
Hello Gisle, >What is the most efficient way to arrange MIDI data on tracks? There is little processing required to do MIDI, factors of hundreds less than required for audio. So machine efficiency is not really an issue. >The way I usually work is to have maybe 4 tracks pr MIDI channel >in arrange, one track for the notes, one for CC07 volume, one for >pan, one for modulation etc etc. Well its the way I work, don't ask :) An excellent way to work. Because it's more efficient for *you* as the user. There may be an issue with track ordering, for timing priority. This might suggest having the note track first... Or may be irrelevant. Logic has a setting to send notes before controllers, if simultaneously timed. Though if you wanted those controllers to affect the note attack, which might even be why you put them there, you'd really want them sent a few ticks *early* and the notes at the exact time. Cheers, Thomas
