Hi all. How's this for corporate cynicism... I recently bought a £400 Yamaha SW1000XG card (B&W G3 Mac running 4.0.7 Gold) and it crashes my system every time. So, having established it's the bloody SW1000, I call Yamaha several times. Naturally they initially swear the SW1000 card can't be at fault but when I finally produce incontrovertible evidence some guy in the so-called technical "helpdesk" (sic) department tells me uh yeah, right, I was wrong to use the most recent driver (as this relates to the G4, not the G3) and instead I should use a previous driver (the 1.03b6.) Nothing about this on any Yamaha website, of course. So will I find it anywhere on the Yamaha website? I ask him. Uh yeah, right, of course, he says. So is it there? The fuck it is. So I call back (a few times) and eventually I'm told no they don't keep old drivers (so now I guess if you buy Yamaha you have to get new computers to go with the drivers, not the other way round). But after much nagging somebody promises to email me this driver. I'm still waiting. Am I alone in being extremely annoyed by this nonsense? Do we really have to put up with this bullshit? So if anyone plans to buy the SW1000XG.... don't, or at least think very carefully. And please, if there is anyone out there who can send me me the 1.03b6 I would be very grateful. Yamaha simply can't be bothered. Lurve, MK
