I don't know for sure, but I wouldn't think there would be any difference as, all you are doing is graphically representing things in different ways, at the end of the day it is what information is being transmitted on what midi channel that counts. I have a feeling you have started another discussion which usually brings fruition (and the occasional friction!) which isn't a bad thing. I look forward to hearing other's opinions on this.
